Are you working on a novel? Do you have a short story or a memoir in mind? Perhaps you are several chapters in but have got stuck or lost direction? Do you have a first draft but are struggling to know how to revise it? Perhaps you want guidance on your novel’s opening, or on writing a synopsis and a covering letter?
Wherever you are with your writing, one-to-one mentoring is a highly-flexible approach which will enable you to focus on what you need most. Whether you book for eight, five or three sessions, mentoring will help you to shape and revise your work so that you can produce your very best.
Mentoring differs from an editorial report in that your aims and objectives will be agreed at the outset and reviewed at the end of the programme. Week-by-week, you will be provided with structured feedback and guidance, to help you identify areas of weakness and then reflect on and monitor your progress.
Why choose me as a mentor?
I am a Costa-shortlisted novelist, an experienced mentor and creative writing tutor. I have a background in historical research and a particular interest in historical fiction.
I can provide one-to-one mentoring, either online or in Cambridge.
Each session includes feedback on up to 5,000 words. Many other programmes only provide feedback on 3,000 words per session.
Whichever option you choose, we will agree goals in advance either by email or by an online call.
Option One:
8 x 1 hour mentoring sessions over a twelve month period, to include feedback on up to 40,000 words
Option Two:
5 x 1 hour mentoring sessions over a six month period, up to 25,000 words
Option Three:
3 x 1 hour mentoring sessions, up to 15,000 words
